Her Excellency CHAM Nimul, Minister of Commerce, co-chairs the 1st Meeting of the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee (CKFTA JC)

(Seoul, Republic of Korea): On the morning of Monday, 13 May 2024, Her Excellency CHAM Nimul, Minister of Commerce, co-chaired the 1st Meeting of the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee (CKFTA JC) with His Excellency CHEONG Inkyo, Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea. The Cambodian delegation consisted officials from relevant Ministries/Institutions including Ministry of Economy and Finance and General Directorate of Customs and Excises.

To begin, His Excellency CHEONG Inkyo, Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea expressed his warm welcome to Her Excellency Minister and the Cambodian delegation, and noted positive progress of trade cooperation between the two countries, as well as the remarkable results of the CKFTA implementation. In addition, Her Excellency Minister also agreed with the remarks of the Korean counterpart and expressed her optimism that the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) will become an important mechanism to promote more trade and investment cooperation.

The 1st CKFTA JC was organized to discuss and follow up the progress of trade relations between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea after the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Government of the Republic of Korea on December 1, 2022.
