REGIONAL AND GLOBAL VALUE CHAINS

The training program will highlight the current role of Cambodia in Regional and Global Value Chains, including an introduction to basic value chain related concepts, the opportunities available for SMEs in the current context, the existing tools for managing value chains and relevant initiatives of successful GVC integration in Cambodia. Group activities have been designed to encourage participatory research and forward-thinking discussions.

Objectives:

  • Policy changes and reforms impacting product and company attributes
  • SME Cluster Development approach to achieve dynamic competitiveness
  • What is value chain management and how development professionals can use the value chain approach to contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction
  • How to conduct a market system analysis including value chain mapping, research and analysis
  • How policy space and state capabilities affect the GVCs upgrading process
  • Cambodia’s participation in GVCs and the supporting measures to foster its further integration

Outcomes:

Following the completion of the workshop, participants should possess an understanding of:

  • Value chains concept and technics for designing and managing value chain activities
  • The tools available to manage value chains and for mapping and analysis exercises
  • Cambodia’s role in regional and global value chains
